Alarm Clock - Cycle TWINE Game
A downloadable game
In “Alarm Clock,” I focused on a spiral cycle—a loop where Steven can either grow or fall back into old habits. Each day, he faces choices that could help him break free or keep him stuck, symbolizing the struggle between finding new paths or staying in routine. The talking alarm clock adds a touch of magic, giving Steven mysterious hints that blur the line between reality and dreams. These messages invite players to see Steven’s journey as a reflection of their own lives, where familiar routines can feel both safe and limiting.
The cycle structure shows that time brings both repetition and change. By resetting Steven’s choices each morning, the game suggests that even though life brings similar challenges, we can break patterns by making different choices. Small decisions in the game lead to contrasting outcomes, showing how each choice shapes the future.
From early player feedback, I learned that too much repetition could be confusing, so I added subtle changes with each loop. The clock’s role was expanded to hint more clearly at Steven’s potential to break free. These tweaks help keep players engaged while highlighting the game’s message: that even small choices can lead to big changes.
